China head doll with unusual curly hairstyle. H. 21”.
Ribbon and curly hair unusual. Molded bow and ribbon above her forehead. Ribbon in the back separates the curls. Very deep shoulder plate. The face nicely hand painted. Small flaw – pin sized two black marks one lower cheek area (appears to be under the glaze, not terribly noticeable, (see images). Her old body has been covered over with a stockinette fabric to preserve it, but has also taken away some of the originality at the same time. Wearing cotton blouse and nice half petticoat that could be original. Pantaloons look like they are newly made, probably within the last twenty years. Body stuffed with unknown filler, not sawdust. Her dress was professionally made to fit her body out of old fabric. Feet are stuffed like body, shoes are replacements. Head is probably circa 1900/25,the body made sometime later. There is also a black jacket for wearing that covers arms of this doll.
